Saquon Barkley Rushing Attempts 15.5

Philadelphia Eagles vs Dallas Cowboys

Under · Lean

Under 15.5 is a narrow preference because Barkley’s healthy-role games reached 15 carries, not 16: he had 15 in both Week 1 and Week 3 while playing 71% and 72% of the snaps. His seven carries per game over his last three appearances is well below the line, but it combines those healthy starts with four carries on 16% of the snaps in Week 2 and two carries on just 7% of the snaps in Week 4, before his hamstring absence. Barkley is active after a full practice Saturday, and the latest report says he may be ready for workhorse use; it does not confirm his workload after missing two games. If he immediately gets his previous full role, even one more carry than in either healthy start beats the line.

The Eagles’ rushing production has been difficult to sustain: their rushing success rate over the last three games was 31.02%, 32nd in the NFL, and their explosive rushing rate was 3.44%, also 32nd. That can stall drives and limit chances to build a carry total. Dallas has been vulnerable over the season, allowing 149.8 rushing yards per game through six games, 32nd in the NFL, so the matchup does not erase Barkley’s path over. More recently, though, Dallas allowed a 38.78% rushing success rate, 11th in the NFL, and a 7.5% explosive rushing rate, sixth in the NFL. Opponents’ workloads show the other side: Derrick Henry had 26 carries and Bucky Irving had 21 against Dallas, while Green Bay’s backs split 11 and 8 in their latest matchup. That makes a restored lead-back workload a real over route, but the recent Eagles and Cowboys trends, plus the uncertainty around Barkley’s return workload, leave the under slightly more persuasive at this threshold.

NFL Rushing Attempt Props FAQ

An NFL rushing attempts prop counts how many times a player carries the ball in a game, no matter how many yards he gains on those carries. Say Jonathan Taylor’s line sits at 16.5 attempts. He’s over at 17 or more carries, and under if he can’t get past 16.

Every scrimmage play that isn’t a kick, a pass, or a sack is scored as a rushing attempt, credited to whichever player last had the ball behind the line of scrimmage. If that ball carrier fumbles, he still keeps the attempt. That attempt is locked in before the fumble happens. A teammate who takes a backward pitch or lateral downfield doesn’t add a second rushing attempt to the play, even though he can still pick up the yards. At FanDuel, for example, overtime counts toward a rushing attempts prop unless the market says otherwise.

Rushing attempts is mostly about volume. A back who dominates the carry share and gets first crack at goal-line work through a strong red-zone share keeps piling up carries even when the game’s close. An injury or a coaching change to the backfield ahead of him can move this number more than the score does.
