Dallas Goedert Receptions 5.5

Philadelphia Eagles vs Dallas Cowboys

Over · Take

Dallas Goedert has reached six catches in each of his last two games, on 9 targets against Jacksonville and 8 against Carolina. His three-game average is 4.3 receptions, below the 5.5 line, but that includes the Week 2 game in which he caught 1 pass on 2 targets while playing 25% of the snaps. Since returning, he has played 69% and 81% of the snaps in those two games and turned the larger target workloads into six catches each. Both DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks are now ruled out, giving Goedert a direct path to remain a primary target. After two DNPs, he practiced fully Saturday and carries no injury designation.

The matchup supports catch volume: through Week 6 this season, the Dallas Cowboys' completion rate allowed was 69.27%, 30th in the league, and their dropback success rate allowed ranked 32nd. There is a real conversion concern, though. Philadelphia's pass EPA per dropback ranked 28th over its last three games, and recent tight-end results against Dallas were mixed: Tucker Kraft caught 5 of 8 targets, Cade Otton caught 3 of 4, and Dalton Schultz caught 2 of 2. Those results caution against treating the matchup as an automatic boost, but Goedert's own 8- and 9-target games give him a clearer route to six catches than the lower-volume tight-end examples. The Over depends on that target role carrying forward in an offense with limited passing efficiency; the two receiver absences and his recent workload make that more persuasive than the below-line average.

NFL Reception Props FAQ

An NFL receptions prop counts how many catches a player makes in a game, no matter how many yards each one covers. Say Amon-Ra St. Brown’s line sits at 6.5 receptions. He’s over at 7 or more catches, and under if he can’t get past 6.

A completed pass caught behind the line of scrimmage and downed there still counts as a reception, even on a play that’s lost yards. A player who catches a backward pass or lateral from a teammate isn’t credited with a reception, even though his yards still count toward the team’s receiving total. When the offense accepts a defensive pass interference penalty, the play counts purely as a penalty, so no completion or reception gets recorded on it. At FanDuel, for example, overtime counts toward a receptions prop unless the market says otherwise.

Receptions track closest with how often a player runs a route and how often he’s the one targeted, so check his route participation and target share before the game. A player who mostly works underneath on quick, short throws tends to carry a steadier catch floor than one who runs mostly deep routes.
